About this policy
This policy explains how Arabian Markets uses cookies and similar technologies on www.arabianmarkets.com, and how you can control them.
It applies to this website only. It does not cover our trading platform, our mobile applications, or any third-party site you reach through a link from ours, each of which may set its own cookies under its own terms.
Arabian Markets Ltd is licensed and regulated by the Financial Services Commission, Mauritius, as an Investment Dealer (Full Service Dealer, excluding Underwriting), licence number GB26206439.
This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly what personal data we collect and how we handle it. Read the two together.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. It lets the site recognise your browser on later pages or later visits.
Cookies differ in two ways that matter for your choices.
- How long they last.
- A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie stays on your device for a set period, or until you delete it.
- Who sets them.
- A first-party cookie is set by arabianmarkets.com. A third-party cookie is set by another company whose service runs on our pages, such as an analytics or advertising provider. Third parties may be able to recognise your browser across other sites they serve.
Why we use cookies
We use cookies to keep the site secure, to make it work as you expect, and to understand how it is used so we can improve it.
Specifically, cookies allow us to:
- keep your session active and protect against fraudulent use of your account
- remember your preferences, such as language and display settings
- measure which pages are visited and where visitors encounter problems
- record how you arrived at our site, including whether an introducing partner referred you
- measure the effect of our own marketing
We do not use cookies to make decisions about your trading, and we do not share your trading activity with advertisers.
Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is set without your consent.
- Strictly necessary.
- Required for the site to function and to keep it secure. These include cookies that maintain your session, protect our forms against misuse, and record your cookie choices. They cannot be switched off, because the site will not work properly without them. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating a secure site rather than on your consent.
- Performance and analytics.
- These tell us how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, how long people stay, where they leave, and which errors they hit. The data is aggregated and used to improve the site. These are set only if you accept them.
- Functional.
- These remember choices you make, such as your language or whether you have dismissed a notice, so you do not have to set them again. They also record an introducing partner's referral so it is correctly attributed. Refusing them means the site works, but remembers less. These are set only if you accept them.
- Targeting and advertising.
- These record that you visited, so that our advertising can be shown to relevant audiences and so we can tell whether a campaign worked. They may be set by advertising partners and may be used to build a profile of your interests across other sites. These are set only if you accept them.
How our cookies are managed
We use Google Tag Manager to load and control the analytics and advertising tags on this site. Google Tag Manager does not itself set cookies to identify you. It is a container that decides which of the tags listed below are allowed to run, based on the consent choices you make in our banner.
This matters for two reasons. First, when you refuse a category, Google Tag Manager is what prevents those tags from firing at all, rather than simply hiding their output. Second, when we add or remove an analytics or advertising provider, the change is made in Google Tag Manager, and we update the table below to match.
Google Tag Manager itself processes technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the container. Google's own privacy policy governs how it handles that information.
Cookies we set
The table below lists the cookies used on this site, the purpose of each, and how long each lasts.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| am_session | Arabian Markets | Maintains your logged-in session | Strictly necessary | Session |
| am_csrf | Arabian Markets | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | Strictly necessary | Session |
| am_consent | Arabian Markets | Records the cookie choices you made in the consent banner | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
| am_ref | Arabian Markets | Records the introducing partner who referred you | Functional | 90 days |
| am_prefs | Arabian Markets | Remembers your language and display preference | Functional | 12 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another | Performance | 24 months |
| _ga_<container ID> | Google Analytics | Retains session state for Google Analytics 4 | Performance | 24 months |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors over a short period | Performance | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Limits the rate of requests sent to Google | Performance | 1 minute |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Stores advertisement click data to measure conversions | Targeting | 90 days |
| _fbp | Meta | Measures the performance of our advertising on Meta platforms | Targeting | 3 months |
The _ga_<container ID> cookie carries the identifier of our Google Analytics 4 property in its name, so the exact name you see in your browser will include that identifier.
Cookie durations are the maximum lifespan set at the time of publication. Providers change these periodically, so we review this table every six months and after any change to our tags.
Third-party cookies
Google and Meta set the cookies attributed to them in the table above. We do not control those cookies and cannot read most of them, but we choose which providers run on our pages and we are responsible for asking your consent before they load.
Where a third party sets a cookie through our site, that company handles the resulting data under its own privacy policy. Its retention periods, its onward sharing and the transfers it makes to other countries are governed by its terms, not ours. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy and Meta's is at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
If we add or remove a provider, we update this policy and, where the change involves a new non-essential cookie, ask for your consent again.
Other tracking technologies
Cookies are not the only way a site can recognise a device. We also use the following. Your cookie choices apply to all of them, not just to cookies.
- Pixels and tags.
- A small transparent image or snippet of code embedded in a page or an email, which registers that the page was opened. We use these to measure whether our marketing emails are read and whether an advertisement led to a visit. They are loaded through Google Tag Manager and are subject to your consent choices.
- Local storage.
- Data stored in your browser rather than in a cookie file. We use it to hold interface state, such as which panel you last had open. It stays until cleared.
- Server logs.
- Our servers record your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages requested and the time of each request. These logs are generated by the act of visiting and cannot be refused, but they are kept separately from the analytics data above and are used for security, fraud prevention and diagnosing faults.
- Device and browser characteristics.
- Some providers combine screen size, language, time zone and similar signals to recognise a browser without a cookie. Where a provider we use does this, it is covered by your consent to that provider's category.
Your choices
When you first visit the site, a banner asks which categories of cookies you accept. Non-essential cookies are not set until you choose. Declining is as easy as accepting.
You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Your new choice takes effect immediately for cookies we set. Cookies already stored on your device remain until you delete them through your browser.
If you refuse a category, this is what changes:
- Performance and analytics.
- The site works normally. We see less about how it is used and are slower to spot faults.
- Functional.
- The site works, but forgets your preferences between visits, so you may need to set them again.
- Targeting and advertising.
- You will still see advertising, but it will be less relevant to you.
- Referral tracking.
- If an introducing partner referred you, that referral may not be recorded. If you were introduced by a partner, tell us when you open your account so it can be attributed correctly.
We do not charge a different price, restrict access, or withhold any service because you refused non-essential cookies.
Managing cookies in your browser
Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies independently of our banner. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of this site from working, including logging in.
Instructions for the main browsers:
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions
On mobile, the equivalent controls sit in your device settings or in the browser app's own settings.
To opt out of analytics and advertising more broadly, independent of this site:
- Google Analytics offers a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu) and the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org) let you opt out of many advertising networks at once
- Most mobile operating systems have a setting to limit ad tracking at device level
These external tools are provided by other organisations. We do not control them and cannot guarantee they work as described.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when a provider changes, or when the law requires it. The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect.
If a change means we want to set a new non-essential cookie, we ask for your consent again before doing so. For smaller changes we update the page without notice, so it is worth checking it occasionally.
Previous versions are available on request.
