The note
Fourteen scheduled releases touch the euro or the dollar this week. We went back through two years of data to see which of them actually moved EURUSD by more than its average daily range on the day.
Four did, and reliably: the US retail sales print, the FOMC decision and press conference, and the ECB President's scheduled remarks. Everything else, including several releases that get a lot of airtime, moved the pair less than a normal Tuesday.
That is the whole filter. If you trade EURUSD this week, those four windows deserve your attention. The rest is noise, and the cost of treating noise as signal is usually a position opened for a reason that will not survive the afternoon.
The economic calendar on this site marks the four in red. It is the same calendar as the platform's, with the desk's filter applied.
